Friday morning + Swim-a-Thon Details!
Hello Riptides!
This Friday we will gather at 10:10am at the pool for a Guest Speaker for our selected charity + ribbons/ Swimmer of the Week awards/ snacks + pool games afterwards! We will run some water polo for the 11&ups and Sharks & Minnows for the 10&unders! So plan on 10:10am-11:30am Swim Team Fun on Friday!
Swim-A-Thon Details...
Our 3rd Annual Swim-A-Thon is coming up on Friday, June 13th from 9am-11am! Our selected charity recipient is... -- the Upstate Splash! Steve Scott, the executive director with Upstate Splash, will speak to the swimmers this Friday at 10:15am! He is also creating a flyer for the swimmers.
2024: Last year we raised a total of $6,558 (DT brought in $4,058 + a corporate sponsor of $2,500) for Upstate Splash!!
2023: We raised $5,503.75 for the Glioblastoma Foundation
DETAILS 2025:
- Friday, June 13th from 9am-11am.
- We will have 3 Prize winners this year!
1. Most $ Raised 2. Most laps swam for 10&under 3. Most laps swam for 11+
WHAT TO DO:
● Get pledges for the laps you will swim and fill out your pledge form -- Pledge form is attached.
● Bring pledge sheet to swim-a-thon.
● Swim as many laps as you can to raise $!
● Have your lane captain sign your pledge sheet verifying the number of laps you swam.
● All $ due back to Beth Plyler or Lindsey Hughes by June 23rd! Checks can be made out to Dove Tree Swim Team ONLY or cash. All of the checks and cash will be combined for one big gift to Upstate Splash on behalf of the Dove Tree Swim Team.
RULES:
● 10&unders: plan to arrive by 8:50AM, Swimmers in the water 9am-9:45am// 11&ups arrive by 9:40am to swim 9:45am-10:30 or 10:45am
● You have 45 min (10&u) or 1 hour (11+) to complete as many laps as you can.
● Laps must be continuous unless you are resting at the wall or using the restroom. Otherwise you must remain in the water.
ALL SWIMMERS GET TO CELEBRATE THEIR LAPS WITH KONA ICE truck! The swimmers will get icees and then receive ribbons and SOW awards.
Info on Upstate Splash:
Their #1 goal is to prevent childhood drowning by bringing The Upstate Community together to save children’s lives. They host fun charity events to raise funds to provide swim lesson scholarships for at-risk youth in our surrounding Upstate communities. They have also recently started a class for Veterans, helping them use water aquatics for their mental and physical well being. Their inaugural class was a great success!
